Overview

The Safety team ensures that colleagues and contractors adhere to health safety standards and comply with statutory health and safety legal requirements. The team has a diverse range of responsibilities covering Safety Performance, Security, Crime and Intelligence, Safety Standards and Environment.

By working closely with the various departments across the business, the team can maintain assurance levels and mitigate against the risk of hazards to the operation of the railway. Making sure the railway is safe and secure for our customers at all times.

A big focus for safety is our environmental impact and sustainability. The team recognise that as a business we have the potential to have a large impact on the environment that's why they are dedicated to reducing and managing this impact, focussing on key areas such as waste, energy, noise, emissions to air, discharges to water and biodiversity.
